No, I don’t think Tony Iommi was at all jealous of Ozzy. It’s just that Osbourne’s drug and alcohol abuse caused him to have to be expelled from the group. Plus, there were some serious musical/conceptual differences at that point.
@twilfon hey dude i love sabbath ……..and i take kindly to your words but in opinion my favorite sabbath is with dio ya digg,,,,,,but i love sabbath ozzy, tony martin, dio its all bad ass….
you’re so wrong…it is your opinion…you’re going to comment…check your grammar…
Is that actually bill on the drums?
@humantripod30 your so wrong.
@twilfon Yup!
I love 70′s audiences. You had such a diverse group of people in the crowd.
Sick ass Bill Ward!!!!
Always thought Tony hated Ozzy – the adulation from the fans, the fact Ozzy was the guy most recognizable with band, etc…I always felt Tony never got why Ozzy was so beloved…especially in the later years, you can see in all of these live performances how Tony always is looking Ozzy’s way – with envy, jealousy, dislike…he wanted him out earlier, but waited until two shitty albums in a row before giving Ozzy the pink slip…just like Eddie couldn’t get that people liked David Lee…sad…
Hole on the Sky… what a tune.
@AlmostBrothersCrew Toni’s tone is killer! Raw, wide open, feeding back, no processers, you instantly know it’s Toni. What guitar player today would dare to go on stage with such a set up or could handle it?
Ozzy says “Get High!” on Don’s TV show! Too funny!
@MightySaturn5 Actually he had that same eerie baritone on Master of Reality also – their 3rd album. But yes that voice was gone by Volume 4.
tony’s fucking tone is brilliant here jesus man such a killer guitar player
@twilfon Right on brother! Headless Cross, TYR, and Headless cross along with mob rules are spectacular too.
too bad i was born in the 90′s …
@VUPdingCLICK same for me
sounds pretty heavy musically however this was a few years after Ozzy’s voice lost that cool baritone and nasal edge he had on the first and second album
HOLE IN THE SKY / SABOTAGE album is so dark and intense and miserable-and also my favourite sabbath album…….
It’s truly wild to see black guys in the crowd going nuts for Killing Yourself to Live.
No one will ever ever ever ever out heavy this band. Not now, not EVER.
Blessed by the hands of Jesus and the wings of Satan simultaneously. if that’s possible.
how come all british blues rockers have such good tone and note choice? Iommi is a perfect example of how to NOT over play the blues. Every lick he plays is relatively simple, but he coins them so well!
All respect to Dio, but Ozzy is the only singer for Black Sabbath.
You can feel the impact they were making. In the days of happy-clappy pop and soul, they were singing about death, doom and despair.
@dimezilla buaha I totally come home from the bar and end up doing shots and puffing while watching live sabbath on YT. I agree, perfect combo.
so cool. cut my teeth on both these songs learning to play guitar.
