is the band black sabbath a devil-worshipping satanic band?
the only reason why their name is black sabbath is because they wanted to attract people to listen to their music. please i want some real rockers or someone who knows the real question to answer this information.

Black Sabbath formed in Aston, Birmingham, England in 1966 under the name Polka Tulk Blues Band (soon shortened to "Polka Tulk"), and later were called Earth, playing blues rock and hard rock.
Guitarist Tony Iommi was greatly influenced both by Hank Marvin’s performance in the band Cliff Richard and the Shadows’ heavy-guitar based recordings; and by jazz guitar, particularly that of Django Reinhardt.[5] Iommi left Earth/Black Sabbath for a short time to tour with Jethro Tull. Ward has also expressed a fondness for jazz music, especially drummers like Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa. Geezer Butler cites bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce of British blues band Cream as a major influence on him: “He was the first player I ever saw who bent the strings and played the bass as a totally independent instrument”. Early incarnations of Black Sabbath merged elements of blues, jazz, and rock and paid their dues playing cover versions of songs by heavy rock acts including Jimi Hendrix, Blue Cheer, and the previously mentioned Cream. Osbourne says he was deeply influenced by The Beatles and his favourite album of all time is Revolver.

No they are not… I remember when they 1st appeared I was a teenager. It’s just an act to attract people. And it drove the parents crazy.
You are either very young/new to them or have an agenda.
They are most certainly Not devil-worshippers. That’s left to some of the current black metal bands from Norway.
During the early 70s, shock was in vogue & they were interested in the darker, somber side of rock. (compare to bands like Yes) thus the name.
not really ozzy didn’t intend for it to be that way. plus he was high 24-7 during the 70′s
No they’re not. When they were originally called Earth, bassist Geezer Butler wrote a song called "Black Sabbath" after reading a book on black magic and the occult. They changed the name to Black Sabbath when people confused them with another band called Earth.
the story is that geezer was going home and passed by this theater which was playing a movie called black sabbath. he toght it was a actchy name so he told his bandmates. and, the song black sabbath is based on a scary thing that happened to geezer. one time he painted his room all black after the peace and love thing got old. then one night, a dark figure whom he thought was the devil appeared at the foot of his bed. the dark figure told him" it’s time to pledge allegiance or piss off"
